Recommended? How is it for getting about on buses etc? DH might go to a conference there so we could go with him - but we will have a bit of time where we have to get about ourselves. I don't mind that, done it before, but not yet with DD in tow. Any tips/advice gratefully received!

Helsinki is nice - it's very clean and there is a good tram service through the city. I'd say it would be a good place to go with a baby.

Oh and there's a great russian restaurant you have to try. I was quite shocked - they had bear on the menu - which I did not have - but really lovely food. Supposedly one of the best russian restaurants in the area.

Great, thanks - what's the name of it, can you remember? Will bear (sorry) it in mind if we go

give me a while to dig out my book and I will post back.

Also - not sure if you are a meat eater but reindeer is quite nice as well. It's the equivalent of our cow!

Bear in mind though that September might be a little chilly and dark since it is up near the arctic circle.

And the zoo is not very nice - the animals looked a bit sad so I would avoid that.

Apart from that it is very "safe." For example There may not be any traffic coming but people still wait for the green man etc, and people leave their bikes UNLOCKED!!!!!! I could not believe it.

I loved Helsinki, but went before had kids and was there for a conference so not much time for sightseeing. The big art museum Kiasma is good fun, huge and seemed like the kind of place that would put stuff on for kids. May not be relevant but beware the price of alcohol!

Thanks, that would be good.
We had reindeer in Norway, it is only like us having cow, as you say. It was really nice.
I thought it might still be quite light in early September (2nd week) - will have to check that out.
Thanks for tip on zoo, will definately avoid as am very picky about good zoos!
Sounds good so far, thanks
