Post baby weekend away

Mumsnet, use thine powers to help me find a place to stay!
DH is booking a long weekend in October, after working ridiculously long hours in past few weeks. We just want a break from routine and the chance to recharge our batteries. We also have a 3 month old DS coming with us, so we don't want to travel more than 2-3 hours from our home (west midlands).

Any ideas? City of country works, as long as we can do something in the daytime. We are on a tight budget, unfortunately.

With thanks in advance.

its worth checking out the last minute sites like late rooms for hotels or lastminute-cottages for self catering. personally with a really small baby like yours we preferred self catering - worried about watching tv whilst LO trying to sleep and all being in the same room or LO having a crying fit at 1am. we stay in a place in cornwall a lot it is about 4 hours from Birmingham I think so might be a bit far Here also what about a city break. Bath is really nice or Cardiff. suggest you try and avoid the half term weekends as it tends to be more expensive then.

Hmmm. Cardiff sounds good, as does your point about self catering...Thanks, mummymeister.
