Can you suggest somewhere nice to stay for a week .... with DH and DS ( 13 ) and DD ( 11 ).

We are going for a cruise for the following week ...

I was wanting to stay in the city centre for the week ... but DH thought that a week would be too long.

I just don't want to be the one that has to pack up the cases too many times ..

All suggestions welcome

Thanks

never been but sis says - find somewhere near Las Ramblas - the main street.

there's plenty to see and a bus (tour, jump on jump off) is very good - goes via beach so could drop dh and kids here and go on and do some culture!

We stayed at the H10 Universitat it was right next to the Plaza Catalunya and was great.
the breakfasts were quite expensive but we walked to the big department store about 200m away and had breakfast in their cafe
they have other hotels in Barcelons this was 4*

Went recently and stayed at a this aparthotel . It's a Europe wide chain so not particularly amazing in terms of the space itself but it's right on the ramblas with easy access to everywhere in the city, clean and cheap and can accommodate families. The guys at reception were very sweet to our kids. We went for 5 days, btw, and could easily have stayed a few days longer. I think you'll have a ball.

We stayed here. Not particularly cheap but very central and very good service.

Another vote for the Citadines, it's excellent value for money given its location, it means you don't have to eat out all the time as there is a kitchenette (and handy supermercado opposite), and handy for the beach, Ramblas, and connections to all things. A week in Barcelona would definitely not be too long in my view, you can plan some day trips to get out of the city - Montserrat, Sitges, the Dali musuem in Figeuras, all much easier to do starting from Barcelona itself! And the beaches in the city are pretty nice now.

amrey diagonal

slightly further out but excellent for transport and quiet for sleep.

I think it is easier to stay in the city and venture further out for the day than the other way round. We had one day in Barcelona and would have loved a week.

Means you can take your time and see loads with out feeling you are running about the whole time.
The hop on hop off city bus is great for getting around but very busy and big queues to get back on the buses at the more popular stops, we found it easier to check the map and stroll back to the stop before.
