What is the position on this?Is it erally a definite no no.I am thinking of going on holiday inSeptember this year for various reasons not just money but a friend has said it is really frowned upon now.

Our LEA have a set formula for determining what is allowed and what not - see page 4 of this document . Presmuably the schools do get a little leeway over what is defined as meeting any part of the curriculum requirements though.

I'm with Blu on habitually frowning on holidays in term time, but totally agree you have valid extenuating circs noddy so ask the school and go for it IMO.

It's very tempting to take them out .....and dh is a teacher but next year he will have the half term holidays (all 3!) and a week at Easter different to the dds as he teaches in a different school authority! whoopeee doo! at least he will have 4 1/2 weeks in the summer the same.

Stockport LEA are crap.

If there is a genuine well thought-out reason, I would chat it thru' with the Head, before putting it in writing formally. We did this once, for emotional/one off reasons, and both children's heads agreed, albeit one more happily than the other It was only for 4 days though!
