La Sirene was fantastic - are there any other sites that match up?

We've just had a wonderful week staying in a mobile home in La Sirene in the south of France and would like to repeat ths type of relaxed holiday either the last week of the summer holidays or October half term (as ds starts school this sept ...gulp!).
We don't generally like to go to the same place twice so I'm appealing to the mumsnet knowledge to see if I can find another place that compares either in France or possibly Spain, Italy etc???
Would any of these places still be warm in October?

If you fancy France again Le Vieux Port on the South West Coast in Messanges is a really nice site. It's big but very laid back. Fab beach, surf if you like that, plenty to do on site and a really nice town nearby with lovely restaurants etc.

I think you will find it difficult to find a campsite still open in October - you will probably need to go further south in Spain. La Sirene is great isn't it, we had been travelling around French campsites for a good few years before we went to Sirene & we loved it so much there we bought our own mobile home there. If you ever fancy going back or if you are recommending it to any of your friends you might give them our website; www.frenchmobilehomes.com
Thanks a million & best of luck with your search.

Thanks for your replies. I'm still looking for our October break but I'll certainly pass on your details for la sirene.

Ooh Great! We're going to La Sirene in AUgust! Glad its still getting good reviews.

I can second Le Vieux Port. We also loved Les Charmettes in The Charente, and that doe stay open late season as it's owned by Siblu and does the half term some years.

Thanks

DD was asking are the water sports there any good?

jenthehen · 29/06/2006 21:00

My little ones are only 2 and 4 so we didn't really use any of these but ds 4 was desparate to try the pool kayaking- unfortunately he was too young. There were also quite a few people trying out the scuba diving. The pool complex is great.
Thanks for the info on the Siblu site, unfortunately it shuts at the end of sept.
If there's anything else I can help with let me know?

We loved La Sirene and keep saying we want to go back, the petite train into town was an experience unto itself!!

Since we went there we have also discovered several other lovely sites. Castil Montrgi in Costa Brava is lovely. We went in October last year and had a great time. The campsite is great, the big pool was never busy (plenty of sunloungers available) the evening entertainment was bril and it was only a 10min walk to the lovely beach. We went for 10 days and found plenty to do. We stayed with Go For Spain but keycamp, siblu, etc have caravans on there too.

If you ever want to go nearer to disneyland i can highly recommend La Croix Du Vieux Pont. It is a great place to stay, disneyland and parc asterix are both within a 40min drive away, there is a large lake with pedaloes, ducks etc on there, amusements for all and it even has its own man made beach located in the middle. The indoor pool complex is great too.

For somewhere different i would recommend Duirnell, Holland its a theme park, waterpark, holiday park all in one with a beach nearby and amsterdam an hour away. We have just come back from there and had an amazing time. That was with Keycamp

Next October we are going to Salou, spain near Port Avetura and again staying with keycamp. I cant remember the name of the site (its on the keycamp website) but i have heard that it is really good there too.

If you are interested in renting in 2007 drop me an email at [email protected]
Hope this is some help Mickey

jenthehen · 04/09/2006 21:11

Mickey, I hope you don't mind me asking but how did you go about buying your mobile home as we're seriously considering it in order to have stress free holidays with our young family?
I've searched the web but can't find any for sale.

Jenethen,
I don't know about other sites, but in Sirene you buy from the campsite themselves. I have seen a website where canvas sell off some of their older stock. There might be a link from their holiday website.
Mickey,
best ofluck with your mobile, you should have no problem renting it out in July & August, after that it starts to quieten down a bit. We sometimes get people asking if we know anybody else with mobile on the site, (if we are full or if they want a few mobiles for the same time). Would you be interested in linking with us at some stage & we could pass on each others info if needed. You can contact me through our website; www.frenchmobilehomes.com & I'll reply straight away. You'd never know we might be neighbours ! Anyway, enjoy it, we certainly have never looked back since we bought ours.

We bought our mobile home form the sales team just next door to La Sirene, behind the horses on the right as you come out of the site. Sun roller has a rep located there, this is there web site www.sun-roller.net/, but it does not show the mobile home we bought which is strange as its this years model. When you purchase the mobile you can pick from the available sites the one you want the mobile to be located at La Sirene. Then you just add the extras such as air con, deck and installation.
