Hi

DP and I are off to Barcelona for four days at the end of October, it has been over 14 years since either of us has been there and I was just hoping to get some recommendations as to what the 'must see' sights are?

Also as we are going solo (without DSD's) if there was anything particularly romantic we should do while there?

Thanks in advance

Ou must take a walk down the Rambles, ts one of the most famousj places to see and also a trip to gaudi s place is good you can pick up a map and also if you get a bus in the center you can just travel around and jump on and off at will. The bus can take you on a tour of places, you can buy a ticket for one or two days. There is a beautiful church which is also very famous which you could come across if you are on the bus. It's a very odd looking church and is still not finished. But it's lovely to see .Barcelona is full of beautiful buildings etc. one word of warning. Beware of pick pockets. They are rife and very very quick Have a great time

thanks mummylin!

I think we are also going to visit the Magic Fountains and do the cable car ride over Montjuic, and chill out in Barri Gotica for a bit too.

Now just need to get the low down on a little romance and we'll be like teenagers again GrinWink

The Parc Guell is definitely worth checking out - as are the other Gaudi places. My other insider tip is this cocktail bar - it's just off Las Rambas - easy to miss - but definitely worth a visit. It is tiny but well worth a visit before going out to dinner. There are some great restaurants in Barcelona - you won't be disappointed.

Cocktail Bar Boadas

sofi - we are staying in a 3 star hotel in the Exiample district (Hotel Europark Barcelona)
DBiL stayed in the sister hotel (Hotel Jazz) a few years ago and could not fault the place but we wanted to be a tiny bit closer to the centre of things. BTW we booked through Expedia as it was MUCH cheaper than either the hotel's own web site or any other booking site

Thanks Holidaybug - we are very much a cocktail kinda couple so will be sure to call into Boadas - the teenager in me is DEMANDING that we go to the ICEBARcelona in Park Vell but not sure that DP is all that into it as it is a bit twee ( not to mention pricey at 15 Euro each!) And I can't wait to visit some pintxos / tapas places. Smile
