Not scary at all and great fun. Went couple of years ago with Sons about 7 and 10. We all enjoyed and made a good break on trip to Cornwall.
Lots on Trip Advisor about it too.

It's brilliant fun for older children who like treasure hunts. There is a forbidden mansion now, but we've not been this year so don't know if that is scary.
My dd loves the place and we've been loads.
