lake district recommendations please.

Hi we want to stay in the lakes this October with our 3 dcs aged 6,5 and 2.
Any favorite places you would be prepared to share ?

South lakes animal park is good, you can feed grapes to lemurs, leaves to giraffes etc. The tigers climb up big telegraph poles to retrieve their lunch.

Lovely little zoo, it was about 3 years ago and think we got in on tesco vouchers. It quite south though and was nearly an hours drive away, but ds loved it.

When we went it was raining and all our shoes are trousers were ruined by the wet red soil which stained everything so don't wear your best!

Have stayed at Whitecross Bay before, nice lodges on the shore of Windemere.

Lakeside aquarium is nice, takes you through from the origins of a stream through to a river, and on to the estuary/sea, with water creatures from every place en route.

Haverthwaite to Lakeside steam railway, you can get the ferry across to Bowness from the Lakeside station.

Spent many happy hours at South Lakes Wild animal park.

Grizedale forest has walks for all abilities/ages.
