Hello!
Am going to Porthmadog for a week end of June. We went last year for 2 weeks and had a great time. As ds is a bit older now, I would love to hear some ideas or recommendations for places to visit please. He is just over 3.5yo, and we also have a 9mo dd. Last time we visited Criccieth, a petting farm just outside Criccieth, Harlech and Barmouth and went on the Ffestiniog railway, plus spend loads of time on the beach at Blackrock Sands. Couldn't do a great deal as was 30 weeks pg and big and fat Grin but will have more opportunity this time round. Though don't want to travel for too long with them, considering ds yarked all over himself in the car the other day!
Thanks so much in advance for any suggestions Smile

Hi threelittlebabies,
I loive just across the estuary from Barmouth, so know a few places to go! Greenwood Adventure park just outside Caernarfon is great, we just took our dd (age 4) there and she loved it, loads to do, lots of picnic tables and seating areas everywhere and not badly priced.

Across the water from Barmouth is another little railway in Fairbourne, nice on a sunny day as there is a cafe at the end of the line and you can catch a small boat over to Barmouth. Or from Barmouth over to the railway, plus there is a lovely beach in Fairbourne too.

Colwyn Bay Zoo is another great day out.

There is also Corris Craft Centre, with many different workshops selling handmade goods and also has King Arthur's Labyrinth, where you go underground on a boat into the caves. I am sure if you do a search on all these they will appear on a website for more info.

hi 3lb, we just spent a week there and had great weather.

the welsh highland railway in portmadog is good as there is an engine shed you can tour and kids can go in the engines, even the journey is not long.this is just near to the tescos.

a bit further south - 40 mins - is brenin forest with cycle tracks. We did some walks along the river where there is a good path (for a buggy) and places where you could paddle in the river. also is cafe and playground there too. may be a few midges though.

have a great holiday. we spent lots of time on black rock sands.

Can anyone tell me if Beddgelert would be any good for ds please? Also Portmeirion. If I was going to take ds to see his first castle, which one?

TIA

Thanks cosmic, not sure if too far. Will ask dh what he thinks, he knows the area more than me. Was thinking more of Harlech or Criccieth Castle, wondered if they would be any good for ds? Anyone?
