looking for self catering grouped properties in france, spain, england, italy

We've done a holiday with friends once before sharing a villa and it worked quite well and we're still good friends. We'd like to try again but I'd prefer a set up where we have slightly more separation. I like the idea of villas split into self contained units or flats in same block or town houses round same communal garden type of set up. Something where it would be relatively easy for kids to play together without supervision.

Does anyone have any websites that make these easy to search for? Ownersdirect is good but I can't get holiday rentals to work this way.

There are plenty of gite complexes in France if you google. We stayed in an excellent one twice - www.bestfrenchgites.co.uk.

Pierre and Vacannes resorts might work. Other people around too but plenty of space to play.

Airbnb is a good site, sorry I cannot link.

We've done this a lot in England (and Wales!) and have regualrly found nice places by searching for 'farm cottages' - we've stayed at a lot of places where outbuildings have been converted into 6 - 12 holiday lets. Usually with a pool on site.
