Lefkas, greek island, has anyone been there

ive found a lovely holiday on the island for 4 of us, 2 adults and a 10yr old dd and 14yr old ds.

the reviews are good on tripadvisor. just wondering if anyone has been, i was thinking of may half term. weather??

which resort on Lefkas?

May half term in Greece does quite often chuck it down for a couple of days. Don't ask me how the weather knows that it is school holiday!

A very long time ago, did windsurfing. It was very uncommercialised and quaint.
Weather in May might be warm but I suspect the sea / pool will be cool.

Just come back from Lefkas and it was stunning! Compared to other Greek Islands I've been to it's much less 'English'. I think we were the only English people at our apart-hotel. Most of the tourists are Italian or Greek. The weather in August was very hot, but usually a bit of a breeze and perfect if you want to spent lots of time swimming and snorkelling. The food was great and we had a lovely time. The beaches on the east coast tend to be pebbly, but I think on the West coast they are sandier. The snorkelling is fantastic and the boat trips are beautiful.

I don't know about that week on Lefkas, but when we went to nearby Kephalonia a couple of years ago in the may half term week it was warm and sunny with just one half day torrential rain and thunderstorm. The sea was warm enough to swim in, but not for as long as we did in August.

We went May half term 2011. The pool was chilly but the sea was pleasant and the weather high 20s to mid 30s. Couple of storms in the mountains but not on the coast. We stayed in a villa near Tsoukalades. The beach at Nidri is soft and sandy, beach at Kathisma pebbly but very pretty. They can suddenly shelve into deeper water.

Unspoilt and tourist sleepy. Nidri as the main tourist spot was a bit blink and miss it, so not overwhelmingly touristy.

Nidri is the most touristy place on the island and isn't very! Not the prettiest but perfectly acceptable.

hire a car and do some trips. Vassiliki is entertaining due to the windsurfing and nutty boat stuff going on if the local wind is in, and has a lovely harbour.

Lots of nice places for eating out in Nidri as well as nice shops for souvenirs and other shopping. And boat trips to nearby islands. We stayed a bit further down the coast, which was touristy in August, but not many English tourists.

I think if you want to hire a car and visit different places then May half term would be fine. You might get some bad weather, but mostly it would be good. If you want to do lots of swimming, snorkling then the summer holiday is good - just make sure your room has air conditioning for the sticky nights! We thought Nidri seemed hotter than further down the coast where there was usually a bit of a breeze.
