After snapping the handle off mine this year i need to buy another.

So is a hard shell or soft roller case better?
What would you expect to pay?
Looking at M&S as i have a 20% code are they any good.

Also should i go for another massive one like previous as now im single not sure ill be going on 2 week holidays and i couldnt lift the bloody thing

heavy suitcases piss off baggage handlers (so get badly treated) and waste aviation fuel. Soft bag, as light as possible, and take less.

I used to rep and could do a six month season on less than 20kg. Which I can lift.

Thats that sorted then

I have a hard shell but it isn't heavy.

It's a medium size I guess, but we always share. We travel light in our family :)

I don't think it is worth spending too much on hold luggage, as it gets bashed up straight away. I would be too upset.

Matalan aren't bad for good value cases.

I was always advised hard-shell for flying as it is more resilient and less likely to get damaged. Ours have survived 20 years now and are still in good nick. (Though I do think they are a bit heavier then soft ones)

We have bought good brand name cases at TKMaxx for very reasonable prices. They are soft, and after around 20 flights are still in good nick. Years ago I used to use a Samsonite hard plastic shell case, and while strong it was heavy. I haven't used the new hard shell type of cases.

My case is 63x42x28cm (excluding wheels) with a zipped expansion panel if needed, this is plenty big enough for a fortnight and is hard to pack over the 20kg limit unless you take dozens of shoes and books and a load of sun lotion!

rucksack for me. restricts how much you can take and leaves your hands free when travelling around. even got the kids on to them now too.
