Swimming pool alarm?

Has anyone ever used one? Going on holiday next week with 4 kids (10, 7, 5 and 3) to a villa which has a pool with no fence or alarm so about to splash out £75 for a portable alarm where the child wears a wrist band and the base unit sounds when the band in submerged in water. The 3 year old can swim one or two strokes but is definitely not a strong swimmer. We will obviously put him in arm bands but wondering in the alarm will help or if it will be one of those things that isn't used and therefore a waste of money. Has anyone used one?

But bumping for you.

i reckon after 24hrs 3 year old will be a great swimmer, or just strap him in to his armbands

there are going to be all sorts of issues with this that will lull you in to a false sense of security when he has them on. how far from the base station will they work? is the base station mains or battery? if battery what if these run out. tbh this just sounds like a bit of a gimic and I think you would be wasting your money. if you are worried buy him a float jacket. it goes on like a little life jacket and some of them are built in to costumes. much better idea would just never rely on technology.

I think personally it's a lot off money & probably a waste off money, when we were on holiday last year, my daughter was 2, and we bought a swimming jacket, it kept her afloat no bother at all & she just bopped along the water :) x
