Off on family hols next week, just wondering who essential travel insurance is - we are going got france.
Have breakdown cover for vehicle
Have European health cover thingy (what used to be E111)
So I'm thinking all im not covered for is if I lose something or (god forbid) something gets stolen - which would be cash/cards (which I think we are also coverred for by card protection policy)/ camera/jewellery
Suspect we have limitted cover through household insurance.
Any advice ?????

simple - buy some travel insurance. The EHIC gives you the cover that the locals get. If someone needs long term hospitalisation or repatriation by air ambulance you will pay, and you can wave goodbye to your house and all your money.

losing trinkets will not bankrupt you. Medical treatment will. Hope it doesn't happen but it COULD. It HAS.

BTW make sure your motor insurers also know you are going.

I am looking into travel insurance for next week as well . If some thing gets lost or stolen....my "fault "for bringing something expensive ......

But if one of my children got ill..or broke their limb ....how would I get them home ???

Mine is going to be £30 1 adult ,3 kids (1 with mild asthma,1 with mild asthma and nut allergy, all of which I have declared) to Spain for 8 nights....I personally cant take the risk.....Travel insurance really is not that expensive .

:-) BTW it should also cover you for cancellation, so next time buy it when you book the trip.
