Never been to this area. so any advice appreciated. Has to sleep 6 as there's 3 adults and 3 kids.

Happy to stay in gite, villa or even a holiday park.

would love it to have a pool but not essential.

I know the Alaistair Sawday Guide has a french section. Are you driving or flying to Tours or Angers? It's a very big area. If you google it you'll find out!! We live 50% in the Richelieu area which is between Tours and Poitiers (futuroscope is the major attraction there). But there's stuff to do everywhere!

Watching with interest as we're thinking of camping in the Loire Valley next year...

We stayed here last year on a MN recommendation. It was lovely. Plenty to visit in the local area but dd had so much fun in the pool and playing in the huge garden with the other kids, we didn't venture out much. The owners are really nice and did a great welcome pack etc. Bread van comes every morning. The zoo Biopark at Doue La Fontaine is fantastic.

We stayed on a campsite near Blois last year. The cycling was great and quite easy and there was kayaking on the river. We went to a couple of chateaux - Chambord and Cheverny - both of which were lovely and very interesting. We only went for a week but we had a great time and would really recommend the area.

Thanks Portofino will look at that in more detail.

"Isingsoprano" Whats the name of the campsite.

Blois is beautiful a bit hilly for biking though you must all be strong ISing !. Amboise is fantastic with lovely ice cream and the Chateau th at Leonardo Da Vinci died in where they've built some of his inventions lifesize in the gardens; you need a whole day to visit it though. Oh the Loire is gorgeous especially as this year it's full after the spring rain like a miniature sea in some places!!
