Oh you wise and wonderful bunch.... I will be in Sydney on my own for a week in October (yes, lucky, lucky me!) Does anyone have any advice as to the best area to stay in (somewhere I would be able to walk around safely in the evenings), and also any suggestions of places to visit?

Also which is the best airline to fly economy?

many thanks!

DD has been there recently and says Darling Harbour is good and has lots of hotels, Circular Quay is also nice, Ultimo and Glebe are nice areas but not many places to stay. Avoid Kings Cross, lots of drug problems, she didn't feel safe there. She said she would stick to the tourist areas tbh.

Get the ferry to Manly, clifftop walk from Bondi to Coogee and Powerhouse Museum. Paddy's market for shopping if you like good fakes!

It is very expensive though, they were backpackers and couldn't afford things like the Harbour Bridge so your week may be different. Have fun

Thanks Timid! Yes, I've not heard good things about Kings Cross, so will avoid that. Other people have talked about Darling Harbour, so I'll probably end up there.
