Looking for 4 star hotel or apartments on the beach in Puerto Pollensa. Mumsnetter recommendations please.

Illa D'or is a nice quiet fairly smart 4 star on the beach in the pine walk and also has apartments. Quite expensive though. Hotel Uyal is further down and is small and nicely furnished after a recent re-fit. Both have small pools. Miramar and Sis Pins also get good reviews. Illa D'or is smartest. If you want somewhere all inclusive / livelier then the Playa Mar is a Thompson superfamily and gets good reviews. I found it too crowded/too much reps entertainment and definitely more 3 star.

There's one halfway down the coast road on way to Alcudia, and they promote the regular bus service to both resorts. However, it's always full by the time it gets to that hotel complex and therefore hard to get on. Beware of that.

DH and I have stayed in the Miramar, it is very old and full of antiques, family run. They have a sun terrace for guests use on the beach, which is just across the promenade. Very nice hotel, and they do take children, but it isn't child centred and there isn't a pool (not a problem to me as the sea/beach is so close.) You are very close to bars, restaurants and shops too.

The only negative I can think of in the hotel is there are several steps to go up when you get out of the lift which might be a difficulty when carrying sleeping children, or for anyone with mobility issues.

We always stay at The Flora Aparthotel, not 4 star but very clean, lovely pool and very friendly staff and great location. Another fav but without the dc as no pool is Hotel Bahia. Right on the beach at the beginning of the pine walk. Beautiful old building full of antiques, more shabby chic than 4 star but really beautiful with stunning views. Have a look on puertopollensa.com for advise and tips. Wherever you stay in puerto pollensa you will have a lovely time.

Just remembered both the miramar and ill a dor have apartments with pools also.

Does any Mn know if the Maritimo is on the beach, and what it is like. Only availability is Hotel Maritimo Alcudia port or Pollentia Club. Anyone been in both? Want nice relaxing beach side holiday.

The Pollentia Club is across the coast road from the sea, but I don't think it is a proper beach there just rocks. It is also 2km away from the main resort and beaches of Puerto Pollensa, so you'll need to drive or get buses there. I'm not sure, but may be half-board or A.I. I've not stayed there, but it would be a big hike to walk there and back in the heat with DC.

Puerto Pollensa is a very popular resort and it pays to book months in advance to get what you want. I suggest you go to a Thomson shop and see if they can find any last minute deals for you. You don't say who is going on this holiday, DC ages, any grandparents going etc which makes it more difficult to help.

Have a look at puerto pollensa.com they have a rental section which is very good. Also put your dates in trivargo.co.uk or booking.com, you will probably find my choice. When are you looking to go? we always book independantly rather than with a tour rep, but if you wanted s packed deal I think jet2 do a lot of package holidays to puerto pollensau

hollyisalovelyname · 10/08/2013 09:23

Thank you. I am not in U.K. so choice is limited and a package is easier at the moment
