Usually do Spain or France self catering just a week, me, DH and 2 DS- 9 and 13.

Fancy something a bit different- maybe Croatia/Greece- don't know really!

Anyone been to Croatia? Is it expensive? Hotel or self catering.

Any suggestions and recommendations welcome- thanks!

I have been to Croatia - tour of the islands and also Split and Dubrovnik. Was lovely. Some places off the tourist track were ridiculously cheap but depends where you go as places like Dubrovnik not so cheap obv. Still, really lovely.

In Croatia,Rovinj and Hvar were lovely, but this was many years ago so I would imagine much more developed now. Dh really liked neighbouring Slovenia when he went recently and this is on our list of 'to go' places.

I stayed on Kolocep (beautiful scenery) which is one of the many islands and it wasn't expensive. I went a couple of years ago and it was £1 for a coffee or scoop of ice-cream, £20-£25 for lunch for 4. Dubrovnik was more expensive but not stupid money. We had lunch in a restaurant with wonderful views of the walls and it was £50 for 4. Ferries cost a couple of pounds each. There are not many sandy beaches so that may be something to consider.
