Possibly with not too much of a plane flight?

Canaries or possibly Cyprus.

It depends when you plan to go? October is much better than January/Feb.

Cyprus is not hot in winter. You might get some sunshine and it might be milder than UK but the tourist season shuts down there for the winter.
Canaries are a better option but don't expect blistering heat. The sea and pools will be cold, even if allegedly heated. I have been to all the Canary islands in winter. You can expect warm sunshine in the day and chilly evenings, perhaps a bit of rain.
I had a week of rain in Gran Canaria in February once.
Having said that we had a great week at Easter last year in Fuertaventura. It was too cold to swim though.

Even the Canaries can't be trusted for sun. I know to my cost!

We went to Lanzarote at the start of January this year & wasn't expecting the weather to be all that good bit it really was! About 25c every day but quite chilly on the evening, definite cardie weather!

I didn't chance the sea looked far too cold, but heated swimming pool was lovely!

It'll be nicer than the UK anyway Grin

Which month?

I have been to various Canary Islands over the winter months - and have had varied weather.

Particularly over the past few years, the February half term has been a bit cold and windy.

March was glorious this year though.

Most of the other 'european' resorts tend to close down over winter months.

I haven't been, but how about Cape Verde islands? I think that is only a 5/6 hour flight?
