am I crazy? hes just turned 2 and our holiday is next month. hes paddying if he can't get his own way, never sits still and he's too little to understand if I explain whats going on (limited speech) what can I do to keep him still and quiet? 2 hour flight, through the night so hopefully he sleeps but what if he doesn't?

Lots of walking round the departure lounge and gate to tire him out.

On the plane I would second the iPad (although we did have to watch the Wizard of Oz four times on a flight to Goa once.....) DS or iPhone if he likes playing with them. sticker books. Also lots of food and drink - breadsticks, biscuits, sandwich. Bring what you can and stock up in Boots.

I spent a lot of one flight with a toddler walking up and down the aisle.

Not much fun but kept her quiet!

We used iPad but in all honesty he falls asleep after 20 or so minutes...

Hi!
We're taking our 19 month old on holiday on Monday on a 4 hour flight and can sympathise!

We have a 'bank' of goodies that are brand new and will surface from the hand luggage when boredom sets in and we have exhausted other possibilities of entertaining him.

We have:
2 new 'lift-the-flap' books
2 sticker books
colouring book and pencils (in a pencil case!)
flash cards (animals)
sewing kit - bought from ELC and reccommended from 2 years +
i-pad
couple of favourite hand held toys

We are taking a few other things in the hold luggage too.

We are lucky as we have a 6:35am flight so I am waking him at 4am to make the short journey from our hotel to the terminal and aim to exhaust him with plenty of walking and chatting prior to boarding.

He usually naps about 2-3 hours after first waking in a morning so he SHOULD be ready to nap on take off. I am saying this in the hope that he behvaes in the same way as he did last year which was to literally fall asleep as we were racing down the runway!!!

We're doing 14 hours on a plane this weekend, youngest is just 2. It's going to be hell!
