Hatton cross is pretty good location coming from m4, but you will have to pay.

Check online for rates.

I used to park near Stanmore tube station on a residential free-parking street across the road Blush

Hounslow West has a lot more spaces than Hatton Cross & is half the price (£5 max Mon-Fri according to \link{http://www.tfl.gov.uk/roadusers/tubestationcarparks/\TFL website - scroll down to Piccadilly line}

& it is pretty much on the way into London from Bristol (just off the A4)

you could also try streets around the Ealing stations & Acton Town but they might all be resident permit only

Find a residential street to park in for free and park nearby to Harrow and Wealdstone station.
Fast trains from there leave about every 30 minutes and take 15 minutes to get to Euston from where you can change to continue on.

If you fancy the British Museum is only a 15 minute walk from Euston.

pretty much all streets around Ealing are residents parking

We often drive to London from Devon and always park in Hounslow West tube station car park. It's the central line and takes you straight in. Always plenty of parking spaces even on week days. Very convenient.

Ickenham on the piccadilly and metropolitan line always has plenty of parking in the streets near the station. Also has a car park but I'm not sure how much it is.
