Looking for a relaxing log cabin holiday in Europe

Hi there, I'm starting to think about next years holiday and am after some help. My dh is going to spend this year in and out of hospital having some nasty treatment for a long standing illness so we want to get something booked for next year as something positive to focus on.

The best holiday we have ever had was staying in a log cabin in Maine, in a wooded area by the coast, we'd Barbeque every night and sit out by a campfire once the dc were in bed. We found this to be so totally relaxing and its something we'd like to replicate but without the long flights.

Our dc will be 10, 4 and 2 next year, I'd like something similar to the above but in Europe and have no idea where to look. Anyone got any ideas?

Hi, sorry for the late reply. I bookmarked your post but been too busy with work to reply.

Several years ago we went to Danparcs in Denmark. Fantastic 3 bed log cabin on a Centreparcs style site so there was pools (indoor & outdoor), bike trails/hire and a dry ski slope.

I had a quick search online and i thing they might have been taken over by someone else but worth looking at.

Thanks oldBeanbagz that sounds just the thing and Denmark is definitely on my list of places to go. I will take a look Smile I found a nice looking cabin in Norway but I think it might be a bit remote for our family so a centreparcs type thing would be good for the kids.

Also look at Stenybynas in Sweden. It's a farm by a lake with 3 or 4 houses and cabins. Boats and canoes etc provided, the lake is beautiful for swimming. We loved it!
