Round the world trip - budgets

I am looking for some advice on round the world trips, basically wondering about the amount that people budget for in different areas of the world. For instance - if you have been across USA in a camper van, do you stay on campsites or can you pull up at the side of the road and how much do you spend a day?

I know not many people will be able to answer this, but any advice would be gratefully received!

Just emailed you then came to see if there was a thread. FYI we budgeted about £100/day over whole trip and probably spent less than budget. Stayed with family/friends for bit of time and borrowed cars rather than hiring so this cut costs. Went way over budget some days (last minute tickets to watch Lions v All Blacks) and hardly spent anything some days

Had RV in Oz. Stayed on campsites almost every night because it was easier when we had an electric hookup. Also our RV was pretty horrid (see Dejags previous thread) so it was better to stay somewhere with facilities.

Am looking forward to more armchair travelling through another RTW trip plan
