holiday with 4 year old

i am really stuck for space in my case but would like some suggestions of what to pack for ds 4 to play with in spain. we are going first choice family plus so will have kids club but want some bits to play with at airport or in our appartment to keep him entertained. any ideas thanks??

top trump cards - something he likes - like star wars or errr fish or something - that way you can even play the game - or he can look through.
the obvious little books. some small figures - nothing like a small luke skywalker to fight the big bad black monsters ( or chairs) in the airport lounge - and a small car. my boys could play for hourse screeching cars along polished floors

Etch a Sketch travel version.

Portable DVD player.

Pack of cards, teach him how to play whist while you are there.

Ds loves Thomas top trumps.

An inflatable ball.

I always buy a comic like 'hot wheels' to take on holiday. There's usually a board game in there so take a dice and some counters. Theres always something to colour as well so take a small pack of crayons or felt tips.

tractor and trailor ? That would kept mine happy - or any new small wheeled thing !

DS took his favourite book and Buzz Lightyear and was happy with that. It isn't a long flight and just the whole flying experience usually occupies mine at least. Oh and felt tip pens and a colouring book too!

There is a Thomas the Tank Engine top trumps put = got one in Tescos. Bit more simple than normal tiop trumps.

The travel etch a sketch sounds good. Where did you get it from? I have 2 x 9 hour flights to fill!

found travel operation and guess who games half price in wollys. also saw little rucksak thingy with 60 animals in - great. with pens and paper thats all we got room for.

remember last year he wanted to take his massive buzz by time we got in the cab he was bored of it and i ended up carrying it.
