Hello,
I am already thinking about next years holiday! We are going to Puerto Pollensa in three weeks time and this is our third year in a row there. We really love Majorca and PP in particular. We have stayed at the Playa Mar each time (Thomson Family Resort) mainly because it seems about the best of that type of accommodation and the pool is particularly good (just don't get me started on the sunbed situation)! We self cater, eat out each night and generally don't use the entertainment etc on offer apart from Splashtime. It costs us approx £1800 for 10/11 nights (we prefer that to 2weeks).
Oh, I should say that "we" are me, DH, DD1 (6) and DD2 (8 months-so first time with us).
Next year, we are looking to spend a bit more and go a bit more 'upmarket'. We would consider a villa, but that wouldn't suit DD1 who loves to make friends on holiday.
Our criteria are:
Nice resort - preferably no nightclubs, nice bars/restaurants necessary.
Good quality accommodation. Either self catering or bed and breakfast. Would only consider All Inclusive if we could be sure everything would be very good quality (and even then DH would take some convincing).
Decent pool area - very important. Hopefully with splash area/slides. Would dearly love to go anywhere somewhere where sun beds aren't a problem (and especially parasols). Pool area is more important than having a kids club.
Max 4 to 5 hours flight time, so Canaries is probably furthest we would go. Turkey/Egypt too hot. Only been to Greece once, loved it, but put off by being badly bitten by mosquitos.
So far I am tempted by the Princess Yaiza in Playa Blanca Lanzarote. It seems to have everything we're looking for. Slightly put off by the fact it will cost us double what the Playa Mar does and wonder if we would enjoy it twice as much IYSWIM. I do doubt that. I am tempted to try somewhere like the Bonaire in Majorca (another Thomson Family Hotel - different resort) and save the extra money?
I have looked at Sensatori hotels, but have been really put off by some bad reviews.
Have also been looking at the First Choice Holiday Villages, as they seem to have good facilities, but again quality would be very important and not sure they are "us" really...
So, sorry this is so long. Can anyone recommend any hotels/resorts based on the above information?
Oh, almost forgot! Our budget is 5K max.
Thanks if you got this far!
