Jorvik dig with preschoolers?

We're going to York this summer with half a dozen children aged between 2 and 10. We're thinking of doing Jorvik dig, but I'm a bit confused about whether it will be suitable. The website mentions a preschool area with dressing up etc, but also that it's a tour with a guide. Are the littlies likely to get bored there?

I think Dig would be fun for preschoolers as it is a glorified sandpit. So long as they don't eat the fake earth.

Thanks trice. How much freedom is there for kids to do their own thing? The tour bit is bothering me.

Anyone else? I've emailed Dig to ask their advice, but not had a response yet.

The tour bit has all the children standing around fingering trays of bones etc. Dd(4) did switch off after a bit ,but as you're in the main museum, she jsut trotted round the other exhibits moving bricks and things (they are all interactive). The actual digging was great fun for both dc. The preschooler area with dressing up is q small and I guess could easily get v crowded.
