Just after some ideas..

Know the area around Polzeath / Trebetherick well, but never been anywhere else.

Sandy, loos, carpark..maybe an icecream van Grin would be all we require.

I have fond memories of Sennen Cove.

Yafta · 10/06/2006 20:06

Watergate Bay is lovely, but crowded in the holidays. Perranporth ditto.

Will try to think of some others.

Xena · 10/06/2006 20:07

Daymer and Polzeath, sorry nothing new to you!!

Eowyn · 10/06/2006 20:14

Walking north from Crooklets Beach at Bude was my happiest place last year.

Eowyn · 10/06/2006 20:15

woops, also has the car park, cafe, sand, loos etc.

FrayedKnot · 10/06/2006 20:17

Not too worried about how busy as will be going outside of school holidays...

thanks, keep them coming!

Trevone bay is my absolute favourite and we all go every year regardless of other holidays or the weather.

It's about a mile and a half underneath PAdstow (on the padstow to newquay road)

It has a cafe, loos and is very very sandy.

There is also Harlan bay and constantine bay as well nearby. Beautiful and rugged.

cece · 10/06/2006 20:31

Bude - has a sea water swimming pool in the corner.

Portreath

Porthtowan

sugarfree · 10/06/2006 20:35

Porthcurno.
All day on the beach then the Minack in the evening.Bliss.

DumbledoresGirl · 10/06/2006 20:38

Polzeath, Daymer Bay - go evry year and have done pretty much all my life. Nowhere finer IMO.

Trevone is gorgeous too though and for walking on, Bedruthan Steps is good (don't swim there though).

Despite family associations going back centuries with Polzeath and that area, my parents did used to take us to Poldhu Cove on the southern coast when I was very little, so that must have something going for it too, although I have never been there as an adult.

Trebarwith Strand (near Tintagel) is lovely and cute

Grin

I'd second Sennen Cove. The colours of the sea around that area are lovely. There are often glorious waves and there are just the right amount of bucket and spade shops, a gallery, fish and chip shop, a harbour a pub for it to be interesting without being cheesy. Also fabulously senic walks at Treen down the road and the Minack theater is a must. We love the area so much we made everyone drive hundreds of miles down there for our wedding!

Ellbell · 10/06/2006 20:42

Another vote for Sennen Cove
Also Porthcurno, Lamorna Cove, Kynance Cove, there are so many...
And 'my' beach in Hayle ... not the most accessible, as there are dunes along most of it, but huge and sandy with pools for the kids at one end.

notanotter · 10/06/2006 20:44

constantine bay ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~aaaaaaaaaaaaah

wrinklytum · 10/06/2006 20:56

Another vote for Polzeath and Daymer Bay.Lovely walk across golf course to little church where Betjeman is buried then onto Daymer....aah im reliving my lovely childhood memories! Trebarwith is also gorgeous too.

stinky · 10/06/2006 21:11

Crackington Haven is the best unspoiled beach there is!!

PanicPants · 11/06/2006 14:23

Oh yes bedruthan is lovely, but mind those steps, and the beach is covered up 2 hours before and after high tide, so you have to be careful you don't get cut off.

We're going back down there on the 8th July for a week. As the bank holiday weekedn wasn't long enough. Can't wait.

Crakington Haven? Where abouts is that?

DumbledoresGirl · 11/06/2006 14:30

Crackington haven is north of Boscastle, just before Widemouth bay and Bude.

DumbledoresGirl · 11/06/2006 14:30

Very steep road gong down into it! Quite fun in its own right!

PanicPants · 11/06/2006 15:21

Sounds lovely, will have to go and visit and see :)

Whizzz · 11/06/2006 15:40

Sandymouth is nice (near Bude) - a NT beach - have to pay to park & longish walk down to beach - but great (ice cream & loos near car park!)

Porthcurno is also a fave

FrayedKnot · 11/06/2006 21:22

Thanks for all the ideas, have been googling beach pics & holiday cottages!

I also love Sennen and my other fave is Praa Sands.
