Has anyone used this Post Office check and send service? If so, do you know how long it normally takes to receive new passports? Thanks.

We got ours back in 10 days but this was in May. I expect it would take a little longer at the moment. HTH.

My son's first passport took three weeks, sent off last week of June..

HotCrossPun · 24/07/2013 18:28

At the moment it is taking about 3 weeks, it may even come back quicker.

Take a note of your barcode number and you can track its progress.

stargirl1701 · 24/07/2013 18:29

Yes. It took 3 weeks (this month).

Did you take a note of the barcode number Fluffy?

A childs renewal ALWAYS needs to be countersigned. So you will have to wait until the examiner writes to you and asks you to fill in section 10 of a new form.

Its not very often at all that they are accepted. If your DD was 9 when she last got her photo taken and now she is a teenager, they normally deem that a significant difference.

Hopefully it will be okay. You can call to track its progress using the barcode number on the receipt from the PO. At the moment 3 weeks is the average, sometimes its quicker, sometimes it's a bit longer. Phone after 2 weeks and check on it if you haven't heard anything.

I know the term they use. You asked whether you would get it back in 4 weeks and I was just telling you about something that could possibly cause a bit of a delay.

Molinko · 26/07/2013 09:25

I had to fast-track 2 of our passports at the Victoria Passport Office. When I told her we'd taken them to be checked at the Post Office (before we realised they wouldn't be processed before we needed to fly) she laughed out loud. She said the Post Office was "useless".

Check and Send doesn't make the processing of passports any faster by the way, it's just supposed to ensure that you've filled out the form correctly to avoid any mistake related delays.
Fingers crossed yours arrive soon.

I sent mine off on 5th July and it came back on 12th (one week exactly).
