I bought a'T' reg VW Passat of my sister at the end of November last year, and it has started making this really funny noise when stearing so we had it at the garage today, to cut a long story short its buggered! i know sod all about cars but my dp has spoken to them at length and its going to cost us at the very least £500! Shock we have used this garage before many times and they are good people, so now we are in a right pickle what can we do? WE cant pay that kind of money and we cant drive it! does anyone have any ideas as to what our options may be in this situation? any advice at all would be welcomed! TIA xx

Oh dear, this is always the problem with buying cars from friends/relatives!

You did buy the car 6 months ago - it's just one of those things I think, unfortunately. Isn't T reg quite old?

Is it the power steering? Mine just went and the whole job cost £150? Try a different garage?

It's just awkward isn't it - I'm sure she'll feel bad about it when/if she finds out. Tbh all you can do is either cough up for the repair or replace the car. Annoying blimmin things aren't they (when they go wrong)!

Sadly, I don't think this kind of outlay is unusual on a car of this age, is it?

How much did you pay her for it?

Helenemjay · 08/06/2006 12:46

£1500! Sad
