Can anyone recommend any good days out in this area? We are on holiday for a week there in August with 2-7 yr olds. Any good places to eat with kids? thanks

cotswold water park

butts farm

or If the weather has turned by then there's

magicland

if you don't mind travelling a short distance there's

cotswold wildlife park at burford

or loads to do at Bourton on the water - birdland, model village, paddle in the shallow river

I second the wildlife park at Burford, and the many attractions in Bourton.
Also Cotswd Farm Park. I havn't been for years, but Chedworth Roman.Villa is supposed to be good.
A bit further away, Slimbridge Wetland Centre.
Avebury stone circle.

Steam in Swindon is good too, Westonbirt arboretum is nice.

There's a lido in Cirencester if the weather is good. Swindon has Oasis swimming pool with slides etc.

It depends how far you want to travel really. You'll be within an hour of Bristol, Bath, Cheltenham, Gloucester, maybe just over to Oxford.

Food wise Soushi is a Japanese restaurant in town which have been child friendly for us in the past including the time DD thought she was eating a pea and got wasabi instead. There's an Italian at the bottom end of the high street which I've seen recommended on here before (I think it might be near pizza express).

The Red Lion in Cricklade is child friendly.

Slightly further afield (towards Nailsworth/ Stroud) is a chain of Pubs called Food Club (search for the Old Lodge, Minchinhampton and you'll find a website with them all) and they are good with children too.

Look out for Giffords Circus on tour www.giffordscircus.com/ too, and Winstone's ice creams!

Berkeley Castle and butterfly house

The museum in Cirencester is really good so go there if the weather is bad.
