We're off to Brittany in a couple of weeks. I'd love to hear recommendations for days out with kids. We're looking for really kid-friendly beaches as well as suggestions for places to eat and days out like waterparks - if there area any.

Would really appreciate your suggestions.

Thanks!
Jess

We went to Brittany last summer DD was 2 and I was heavily pregnant. We stayed at a fantastic camp site and alternated our days. One out site seeing, Vannes was my favourite, next day stayed at camp site - mainly in the pool with DD. Brittany was fantastic, will definately be going back. Have a great time. Sorry I haven't been much help, will shut up now Blush

Whereabouts in Brittany?

There is a fantastic sea life centre/aquarium in St Malo, we went 4 yrs ago and just loved it. We didn't have any kids but we were just big kids ourselves! At the end of it, walk outside along the path and there's an amazing thing, you go in to little submarines (pretend) and they appear to be going underwater, and animals "swim" past the porthole, I think both your kids could appreciate it. There's a really lovely gift shop at the end too.

There is a good aquarium in Brest.

A lovely old fashioned merrygoround in Quimper.

Fantastic beaches near Pont Aven including a 'secret' one called Tahiti Plage (amazing long white sands and gently sloping sea)

We went to a zoo called Bourbonsais which was nice (can't remember exactly where it was though)

If you are anywhere near Riec Sur Belon (and hope you are, its fab) then \link{http://www.la-villeneuve.co.uk\this site} has some good family tips

We're going to Fouesnant which is on the south coast in the Benodet area.

nice little zoo type place with wee wallabies hopping about everywhere and monkeys chattering and shouting from the trees - kids looved it but take a picnic cos restaurant wasn't up to much and always busy.

If you're near Auray that'sa lovely little town on the gulf of Morbihan with a mini train which takes you round the town then down to the harbour area which is lovely. great hypermarkets too!
Think most of the others have been said!

ooops forgot to tell you the name of the zoo - it's Bon Frere!

We were in that area last year - near Pont Aven which is about the same distance on the other side of Concarneau.

We basically spent our time going to a different beach every day (a couple of hours on the beach, either before or after lunch, which takes well over an hour). It is amazing how many beaches there are with completely different characters. We did spend a few hours in Quimper, just wandering around the streets; we dropped into the Cathedral, and then let the younger kids have a go on the merry-go-round that Enid mentioned.

We didn't go to Brest, but there is a very highly regarded aquarium there, called Oceanopolis (sounds fun, doesn't it?).

We absolutely loved the area.
