We're travelling to France in July and have just booked with Speedferries. We want to stay overnight when we get there, so I'd be grateful for any recommendations for guest houses/hotels in or near the Boulogne ferry port, or up to an hour away. Thanks!

It depends how many of you there are. We find campanile do the best deal for 4 in a room. www.envergure.com

Try the Ibis or Etap hotel chains or www.gites-de-france.fr (and search for a Chambre D'Hotes/B&B).

Thanks for these - there will be two adults and two children aged six and two. Any other recommendations?

You wil struggle to get you all in one room, unless price isn't really a problem. formual 1 is ultra cheap and no frills at all, again it is part of the ibis group. Campanile will be a reasonable price with a good breakfast if you can get a room at such short notice.

Holiday Inn in Le Touquet have maisonette family rooms - double upstairs and double downstairs - and a good indoor pool for kids. Their website is the best place to book, and the breakfast is usually pretty good (buffet style).

Hi,
5 of us, so we have to have 2 rooms, just stayed at a Mister bed chain and a Fast hotel chain, workded out at £55 a night at each, for 2 rooms next to each other and inc a really good buffet b/fast. Web sites easy to navigate, esp like Fast Hotel. Aslo tried Premierre Classe, similar but smaller rooms.
