cork or galway for children

we're going to ireland for nephews chirstening in august (in dublin). Were planning to maybe see some other relations in shannon. and thinking of a few days away, ideally by the coast. Cork or galway? and where ? and if the weather is terrible, what else can we do? we have two DC aged 4 and 5.

(and if you have a 4 bed house to recommend for a few days in either of these places even better!)

I think there's a big oyster festival in August in Galway - I'd check as its very popular and prices will be high!

Connemara and the burren are beautiful though, and if its dry, there are some fabulous empty sandy beaches around.
