How much suncream??

2 weeks in Spain in July. For a family of 4. Me, DH, DDs 12 and 14.

I will bask with a book for most of it. DDs will swim and read and play games/sport in the sun.

So far I have bought 2 x sensitive high factor suncream for DD2 as she gets allergic sometimes. 3 x high facter suncream for the rest of us. 2 medium factor for me and DH.

4 pots of after sun.

Is this too much?? Not enough??? Its so cheap in Wilkos and Homebargains I would prefer to stock up here if we need more. What do you think??

I think you won't even get through 2 bottles of suncream lol

Went to oz for a month recently and didnt even use a full bottle and me and dd are vey fair so burn just looking at the sun and that was 3 adults and 1 child using the cream.

I lived in Sydney for 3 years and parents have lived in Dubai for 9 years so we have spent many months at time there multiple times a year and I think in total we have probably used about 7 bottles of sun cream over the years and we apply alot!

I would take max of 2 bottles and 1 after sun.

Have a nice holiday x

Also we use factor 50 only as just because its high factor doesn't mean you won't tan. ( plus lives in hot 50 degree sometimes weathers countries lol) so no need to go on to a lower factor after a few days, the higher factor the better for health reasons.
I have know more than enough people who have had cancerous skin cells removed all because they like to get a tan and so don't use a high protection sun factor when this doesn't alter how much you will tan, just how much of the suns harmful rays get trough to your akin.

I would just take the 2 high factor sensitive creams and that will be fine for whole family. And a after sun to whack in the fridge if you have one

temperature doesn't matter.

If you are deliberately sunbathing (which is not ideal in the Med in July) then you need to reapply suncream after each swim, towel down or sweat, or every couple of hours.

the kids should wear rash vests, board shorts and hats in and out of the water with suncream on all exposed skin, regularly reapplied. Cream goes on before leaving room in the morning. Everyone gets in the shade over lunch.

aftersun is a bit of a waste.

See last year we went 1st week in June for a week and had to buy more sun cream and after sun. I always used a body lotion after showering but usually take after sun on holiday just so everyone can use it.

From memory I think we took 3 high factor sun creams last year and medium and ran out towards the end of the week.

We always apply liberally after our morning shower/swim and before breakfast and getting dressed - so no uncovered areas even the bum misses out on a slapping on of sun cream.

We usually take 2 bottles of high factor for our girls and 1 high and 1 medium for me and my husband.

1 bottle of after sun is usually fine and I have some coco butter too if we run out.

If you think you will run out it's better to take extra than not have enough.

Why don't you just buy there. The weight of that lot will be huge!

We only take a small handbag sized one for DH and I and a once a day ultra sun factor 50 for DS. The rest we get when we arrive.

You won't need all of that aftersun. Just a standard bottle of moisturiser will do.

I take Coppertone SPF 70 (2 bottles for 2 weeks) & Banana Boat Kids SPF 100 (1 bottle) for faces. I use this stuff religiously.
