We loved Lecce and driving down the coast. we stayed in a trulli which was fun! Generally a lovely part of Italy in which to chill out and eat lots of ice cream. Beware the delicacy orriechette - lambs ear pasta. It's really chewy - almost uncooked! I didn't learn my lesson and ordered it 3 times in 1 week! Right must get back to packing - fly tomorrow!!

Alberobello is amazing! SmileSmile

Like Fairyland.

Went there for our honeymoon.

They eat potato bread in that region which is quite stodgy but great.

The trullis are fantastic,in Alberobello, well worth a visit.
Also the Castellana caves. A mare to get to without a car though.
Food wise... Gawd... Where do I start?
The calzone is brilliant. The coffee. The olives and the olive oil. The icecream. Buratta di Andria, which is a soft very fresh cheese. Ciceri e tria( tagliatelli with chickpeas, in Puglia tagliatelli are called tria. They're big on dialects around there). And the tarallis are amazing, it's like a prezel, I consume industrial quantities washed with Peroni, a light really nice beer. They're big on wine there, it is fantastic, but I don't like wine, so can't recommend.

Oh, the orechiettis are great! Never had them cooked in a restaurant though, my mother would have killed me.
