Ireland - where to go?

We spent a 2 week holiday in County Cork a few years ago. Thinking of going to the west coast for a week in August. I'm looking for suggestions for the best area to go with 13 year old DTs and 10 year old DD. We'll most likely take our car on the ferry so no need to look at access to airports.

We had several great holidays in Westport as kids. We loved climbing croagh Patrick ( need to be reasonably fit!)

Dingle peninsula is fabulous, far reaches of West Cork also wonderful, Sheeps Head is remote but has good walking (we spent a fortnight there last year), Beara also lovely. Much of Mayo has majestic beaches and is relatively untouristy. I love the Burren, too, and you can get to the Aran islands easily from Doolin. What do you like to do as a family? What kind of accommodation are you looking for? Island hopping might be fun, there's lots of them here

Self catering is how we usually travel. Beaches are good, some sightseeing, lots of eating. The kids like to do activities that we don't normally do i.e horseriding. Some walking is also possible though probably nothing too taxing.

We had a fantastic time in Enniscrone on the Atlantic coast in Sligo. Most amazing beach, kids went to surf school, saw dolphins in the bay, explored the fossils in the rocks, took a fishing trip and caught 19 mackerel to cook for tea, live music in the pubs, seaweed baths is better than any spa etc etc...
