I have a challenge! Friend is hoping to get married in Barbados next Feb - no dates or location yet. I'm trying to work out if we can afford to go, in which case I'll start saving or if it's totally beyond our means.
So, I need ball park figures for a variety of accommodation types and resorts for 2 adults, 1 almost 4yr old and a 12 mnth old.
Any ideas would be much appreciated!! Smile

I usually start of on opodo or expedia for a general idea, then search for local websites

and take it from there. :) HTH

That's what I did when I originally planned on organising our wedding in Hawaii... got pg though and that was out the window :)

Thanks MrsBigD - there's loads to look at on the Barbados site - I shall try to find time to search when ds2 (3 months) is sleeping. And I hope one day you get your Hawaiian (sp?) wedding!
If anyone knows who the MNetter is that always offers to search for holidays, please let me know cos it would be really useful to have someone helping me with this Smile!!

toothyboy... too late for the Hawaiian wedding unless we have a renewal of vows Grin. But really would like to have a honeymoon at some point. never got round to that being 7 months pg when we got married LOL

Hi Toothyboy, I'll try to give you a hand Grin

Looking at package holidays -

Virgin Holidays in Feb 07 for 7 nights in a 1 bed Hotel on a room only basis for the 4 of you costs roughly £2000

You can do it cheaper independently:

Flights

\link{http://www.xl.com\xl.com} fly every Friday from Manchester or Gatwick via Manchester to Barbados. The cost in Feb for the 4 of you is approx £1200

Accommodation

You can rent a 2 bed semi-detached Villa for \link{http://www.holiday-rentals.co.uk/Caribbean/Barbados/holiday-golf-villa-South-Coast/p9783.htm\£600} per week
or
A Beach front apartment for \link{http://www.holiday-rentals.co.uk/Caribbean/Barbados/holiday-apartment-South-Coast/p60227.htm\£315} per week

Car hire is roughly \link{http://www.arguscarhire.com/\£200} per week for a mid sized family car although the sites I have looked at all seem to say that Taxi's are great for getting around the island if you didn't want the hastle of driving.

They are hosting the cricket world cup 2007 which kicks off with friendlys on March 5th so I expect prices will go up. I don't know anything about cricket world cups but I assume they don't go crazy with redevelopments like before Olympics etc...

It's tiredemma - she's a travel agent I think Smile

bubblerock · 08/06/2006 11:49

bump

Toothyboy · 08/06/2006 19:05

Thanks bubblerock - that's really helpful! I shall now have to persuade dp that we can afford it or perhaps persuade him that I should go on my own and he can stay home with the kids!!

I didn't know about the cricket world cup - I'll mention that to the happy couple as well in case they don't know and find prices have rocketed by the time they get round to booking anything!

Thanks JanH - I'll put a call out for tiredemma to see if she can find any more good deals. Smile
