Passport expiry date?

Hi. I will be returning from Menorca on 30 july to UK with Jet2Holidays. My passport expires 25 Sept.

I have a niggling feeling that you have to have a certain amount of days / months left on your passport to travel with some airlines. I cant find anythng related to this in the T&c of our holiday. Can anyone shed any light?

Tia

I think you are fine with EU countries- ring the holiday company and ask. It takes time to renew. I sent mine off on 4th June and haven't got one yet.

That should be fine, my DH travelled to Menorca in June and his passport runs out in August. He sent off for his renewal as soon as we returned, as we are going away again in September. The passport office adds any remaining months on your old passport to your renewed one, this can be up to 9 months before it runs out.

You should be fine as it is another EU country. Do you hold a British passport?

If you were going to USA or anywhere else further afield you may be required to have 6months remaining on your passport.

One year on our return from France - the immigration official pointed out that DS' passport expired the next day. She didn't seem bothered- just letting me know I guess.

Thanks. I read something in the paper on Saturday about a man winning compensation after being refused to board a flight with only 3 months on his passport when the actual stipulation was 2 months with jet2... Have emailed them to be sure...

www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice/spain/entry-requirements - says Your passport should be valid for the proposed duration of your stay. No additional period of validity beyond this is required.

this page has info about passports but just says are generally required to have 6 months remaining on it after the scheduled date of return but that wouldnt apply if you are travelling from menorca to the UK

bubbatime · 24/06/2013 23:09

Ilovepowerhoop why would that not apply for menorca to uk? Panicking a wee but now. Thinking I should've just got it renewed but cutting it fine now as three weeks to travel time...

the link said for the destinations that they flew to you would generally need 6 months left but to check the passport requirements of the specific place you were flying to. As you are going to Menorca and they don't ask for extra passport validity then the 6 months extra wouldn't apply

Brill, thanks for clarifying Grin
