Has anyone been? DD is saving to go next year with her friend.
Any top tips? Places to stay?

I've been in SD at the tail end of Comic Con.

Hilton is right next door to the convention centre where it is held. Gaslamp Quarter where a lot of restaurants and hotels are is a lively area at night but its not rowdy.

BA fly direct to San Diego.

Hotels charge HUGE amounts over ComicCon days. I almost went this year but just couldn't come to grips with the hotel cost.

I'd maybe look into staying a bit north of San Diego and taking the Coaster (train) down.

I know there are also deals through Comic Con for some hotels but they're nonrefundable and there's no guarantee you'll get tix to Comic Con. The deals start several months prior to the event.
