Looking for a holiday for October half term and have come across the MW place in Portugal. One m'netter posted on a January thread that it was new this year and a few were considering it for Easter or May. Has anyone been yet ?

Also has anyone been to their Sardinia place , although dd is only 5 in August so too young this year I think.

Still considering it (need to get a proper brochure to see the full details though, websoite not very userfriendly !). Anyone's kids done a MW tennis course ? How warm is Portugal in October ?

The website is poor - I have a brochure - I'll see if portugal/sardinia are in it?

Katymac · 29/05/2006 21:02

They are

What do you need to know?

LIZS · 29/05/2006 21:11

Thanks. Not done MW or indeed any tour operator organised holiday with the kids so entering uncharted territory. Their website does't really give much info at all !

Sardinia I think is off limits anyway as dd will only just be 5. Portugal sounds possible , but not sure of the set up (there seem to be 3 locations , and no idea how far apart or the differences in accommodation), proximity to beach and main village etc. Just spotted the tennis courses and if the weather was cool enough and not too windy we might be able to persuade the kids.

I think it may just be easier for me to get my own copy but people were talking on here of going earlier in the year so thought someone may have actually been by now !

Sardinia - Kids club is from 6 - so you're right

Portugal - Pedras D'el Rei is the only resort in the brochure

No info on temp - but my DD (8) loved the kids clubs and really enjoyed the watersports - but the younger children did some watersports too

moondog · 29/05/2006 21:18

What diff. does it make him being only 5 may i ask??

LIZS · 29/05/2006 21:20

Thanks. Moondog some MW resorts are adult only except in school holidays , and in the case of Sardinia even then only accepts kids aged 6 and over , it would seem.

At that resort the kids club only starts from 6 (so all the advantages of MW (& the extra cost) is wasted)

moondog · 29/05/2006 21:21

Thanks
Are they worth it then?
How different to Club Med are they?

LIZS · 29/05/2006 21:23

Even more confusing the resort on the website is described as the Ocean Club at Praia de la Luz.

That doesn't match my copy of the brochure (maybe it was out of date 2006 beach resorts)

Are you desparate for sailing or just activities and a kids club?

LIZS · 29/05/2006 21:30

Just a nice holiday really and this seems pretty reasonable at the end of the season. Ours don't really do kids clubs but might if they are there and have an activity programme they can dip in and out of. ds is sampling sailing next weekend so may be quite keen, or not. They both love the beach so that is quite important !

Have you looked at some of the others?

I was going to suggest the Alps ones - but not if you need the beach

LIZS · 29/05/2006 21:36

Alps finish in early September . We'll probably go to Switzerland in July anyway. Looking at shorthaul for October half term - we've previously been to Majorca and fancy a change. Had considered Corsica but no info on the website so perhaps that isn't running.

Egypt was lovely Abu Soma was where we were

D'hab is much windier

LIZS · 31/05/2006 10:33

ah ha ! Just spoken to MW after dh picked up a brochure yesterday. The resort in the brochure isn't running because it wasn't ready in time. Apparently there should be an additional leaflet detailing the alternative as per the website, which seems potentially to suit us better anyway, so they are going to send me a copy. Smile

Bum there's a delay on the brochure - getting impatient now ....
