Have been to Orlando several times and whilst we like the theme parks, we have done them to death! Where else would be good for a couple of weeks? Happy to travel around a bit. DS is 6.

Just a suggestion for a lovely lazy day out.

Key West?

I had a lovely holiday in Miami then hired a car and did the very easy drive from there down to the bottom of the Florida Keys. Very relaxed and lazy. I even liked the party town feel of Key West at the end. This was pre-kids though, I would depend whether your DS needs a lot of activities other than beaches, walks, boat rides etc.

florida keys Islamorada was the best holiday we have ever had. kids would sooner go back there than to WDW

Clearwater/Tampa, Fort Myers, Sanibel, Naples.

Anna Maria Island - we went for 3 nights last year during a trip to WDW, we would have happily stayed a lot longer! Beautiful beaches, very chilled and relaxing!

A lot of the beaches on the west coast are lovely. Or explore the Everglades or Ocala national park.

Visiting Bok Tower is nice for a quiet afternoon pottering around the garden and hearing the carillon.

Bok tower is cool and you can feed the squirrels but last time I was there (many moons ago) the squirrels would climb up your legs to get the peanuts. Kinda scary but in a cute way.
