Hello, I have a three year old boy and another baby is due end Oct. We are planning to move from South London to Christchurch in Dec/January - my partner is from there and I am feeling a bit hesitant to say the least - it's a fantastic place but my questions are:

What do you do in the Winter with small children??!! (Such a Londoner, I know)
Any good state/private nurseries that people would recommend for my three year old?
Are there any good parent and child groups that people would recommend?
What are people's experiences of moving down without knowing people down there?

My main worry is moving away from the people I know and love, other than that small issue, the windy winter by the sea is something very unfamiliar to me!!

Sorry for the rambling......

Many thanks!

I live nearby but my children are older than that. It's a lovely area and we go for walks on the beach in winter, as do most people around here judging by how busy it is! Christchurch has a nice little town centre and there are loads of places nearby to visit. It's not quite Siberia down here in the winter(esp if like me you're from the north). No idea about toddler groups, nurseries etc as we moved when children were at school. I think it's easy to make friends if you go to local groups with babies, I've moved lots of times across country and found it much easier to make friends when my children were very little.

There's a big soft play in Christchurch - Serendipity Sam's. a lovely play park and waterpark by the Quay.
