Even travelodge / premier inn is coming up £160+ per night

Was thinking maybe a nice b&b or similar

How many for? Travelodge don't have many family rooms, so may be cheaper to book 2 double or twin rooms if you can split family.

Or try youth hostel.

if you are looking for a weekend then Canary Wharf can be fairly cheap but more of a pain to get places
