Getting from JFK into Manhatten with toddler

Hello

DH and I are travelling to NYC with DD (2.3) in a few weeks time. We are staying close to Central Park. On previous (child free) trips we have just jumped into a can to get into Manhatten from the airport but have been told small children can't travel in cabs as no car seat and we don't intend to take one with us as need to travel as light as possible. Don't fancy the subway with toddler luggage and current pregnancy!

Does anybody know how we might get there? I will also google but first hand recommendations would be very much appreciated.

Many thanks

We did this when dd was 3.5 and there was no issue at all with getting a cab.

Thanks Porotfino. Looking online it does seen we have been given duff information.

I can't see why a child can't travel in a cab. They can here without a carseat.

Alternatively, could you look into a chauffeur hire? We used one when we went to ny on honeymoon. It was more expensive, but we were splashingout!

I spent 3 weeks in newyork/la/sanfransisco and not one cab driver asked us for a car seat once! Charges are 3 & 4
