Has anyone ever done geocaching?

I've only just heard of it. It sounds like a walk in the country crossed with a treasure hunt and is designed to be child and adult friendly. I want to know more!Smile

Haven't tried it (although I know there's a geocache near us) but there's a website about it \link{http://www.geocache.co.uk/\here}

Sadly no, but have done a bit of \link{http://www.bookcrossing.com/\bookcrossing}, which is also fun.

I know someone who does it, she and her husband do it every weekend they can ( no kids though).
It does sound exactly as you described it.

Yes, we've done half a dozen geocaches in the last 2 years near our home in Hampshire and also checked some out when we've been on holiday... great fun (and frustrating at times!) for the whole family, my parents, brother, dh and all the kids usually do it of a Sunday afternoon!

moondog · 22/05/2006 14:25

Hi
We do it occassionally, and its great fun!
www.geocaching.com is the main site, and you can look up your nearest cache where you live.
You need a GPS system, Ours cost £100, but they start at about £40. Thats all you need !

Yay, replies! Thankyou all. I'll be back later, just being hounded off the computer by an indignant 7-year-old!

yes we do it. And we don't have a GPS system. You don't really need one for most of them - just a good old OS map.

Is it like techno orinteering?
