How late can I fly when pregnant?

Me and the DH need to go and spend some time with the in laws in Jersey before this baby arrives after we finish teaching at the end of term. I'm hosting my mum's 60th on July 13th so I don't want to leave until the monday 15th July. My official due date is 19th August according to the scan (even though on LMP dates it is 25th August on the NHS online calculator, or 26th if you ask my midwife?!). So my question is does anyone know can I fly BA to Jersey (only half an hour flight) on July 15th and how long can I stay? We think the latest I can travel is 22nd July but not feeling confident enough to book it!

With most airlines 28 weeks unless you're having multiples when it is earlier.

We were living overseas when I was pregnant with DD in 2011. The two airlines we looked at were both 36 weeks, but individual airlines do differ.

After 28 weeks you will need a 'fit to fly' cert from your doctor.

By the way I got a letter from my midwife which was free. GP charged £19.50!
And the letter needs to be dated within a week of outbound travel date.

British Airways is 36 weeks. Plus fit to fly letter.

Flying is the easy part. Getting insurance is not.

With my second I flew to the Maldives at 29 weeks and returned at 31 weeks and then to Spain at 34/35 weeks, returning a couple of days before 36 weeks. At the time I had insurance that covered me to 36 weeks. As long as you feel fine and your pregnancy is going smoothly I would definitely go.

You will be 35 weeks on July 22 isn't it? It should probably be fine.

And to those saying if your pregnancy goes ok, you can fly as late as 36 weeks. Well mine went perfectly well. So well that I was cycling to work every day until I started my maternity at 37 weeks. I'm sure I would have got a fit to fly cert from the midwife. Then I went into labour on the first Tuesday I was on leave. FYI, 37 weeks is already full term, so I wouldn't be risking 36 weeks. It might sound like it's still 4 weeks to the EDD of 40 weeks. But remember a lot of people give birth at 38-40 weeks.

Oh and the birth is fine too, if only a bit long. It wasn't an emergency or anything in case you are wondering.

As others said, it really depends on the airline. Some refuse travel after 34 weeks. I flew a number of times when around 28 weeks and I was constantly asked for doctors certificate as large for dates.

I flew BA from North Africa to the UK at 36 weeks. I had a letter from my doctor, which they requested at check in.
I wouldn't worry about a half hour flight, esp if this is a first baby.

Onetoddler - but you were more than 36 weeks when you had your baby, correct? I don't know of any airline that will let you fly at 37 plus weeks.

Easyjet was 34 weeks and I was in my 34th week when I few - I had a letter fro the midwife. DD turned up three weeks later.
