We're looking at Crete for a holiday in Spetember with the above. Toddler will be 3 so we'll need somewhere with a pool and a beach nearby. Has anyone any recommendations for hotels or just general areas to go to or avoid?

Chania was a lovely area if I remember. Really pretty harbour to stroll around, we hired a car and visited some villages and family tavernas in the mountains, but did find it pleasant to eat at the Harbour.

The opposite side of the island seemed to cater to more of a party crowd, but it depends on what you want from a holiday I expect.

You would need a car, but this is near Chania (20 mins). We have stayed there, and would recommend.

We are going to Crete in a couple if weeks. DS is 4. We chose Stella Palace from Thomas Cook.
The pool is perfect for DS. The holiday club is run by Thomas Cook so no language barrier, and all the staff are CRB checked.
These are what swing it for us, along with excellent reviews on trip adviser.

It's also quite near the airport Grin
