Try Rufford Abbey - very close indeed to Centerparcs. There's the Abbey itself, a georgian orangery, sculpture garden, lake, two or three cafes, some craft shops. It would fill an afternoon. Or Clumber Park (National Trust), great for bike riding. At the village of Ollerton there's a lovely Cafe at Ollerton Mill (quite small though, and not so toddler friendly but ok for babies and older kids. There's a few ideas!!

\link{http://www.whitepostfarmcentre.co.uk/contact_us.htm\white post farm} 6mins drive away

How old are your children?

For little ones Sundown is nice.
Gulliver's Kingdom at Matlock isn't that far away either.

I would avoid the Sherwood Forest farm, and try White Post or Chatsworth Farm instead. We were very disapoointed with the Sherwood one when we went.

im making notes of all these!!we are going for a week,so we'll need plenty to do.the kids get bored easily so i think if i write down all these places, they can all pick one each to do!

Try Conkers, only a few miles before you get to Twycross Zoo. They have a website if you want to check it out, good for your age range.

laughalot · 15/05/2006 19:24

Try pets corner to thats not to far away

hulababy · 15/05/2006 19:28

Pets Corner is now called Sundown.

laughalot · 15/05/2006 19:32

Im loosing it thats pg brains for you

Orinoco · 19/05/2006 21:31

The two little ones would probably like Sundown, but I think the others would be too big to enjoy it - and you have to pay full price for everyone over 2 whether it's suitable for them or not.

There's a big Odeon at Mansfield, not too far away if it rains. Oooh, and a brilliant swimming complex too - Water Meadows.

hotmama · 19/05/2006 21:35

Def recommend Rufford. Chatsworth is better than White Post farm - but White post is nearer. Could venture into Nottingham - depends what you fancy.

TBH you probably will have so much fun at CP you won't want to venture out much. Smile Def hire bikes when you get there.
