I know it is a long way off but I like to plan in advance- nice to have things to look forward to! Kids are with their father over August bank holiday. I have 4 days to occupy myself... Any suggestions / recommendations for my first lone adventure?

What's your budget? Are you wanting to stay in the uk?

Would consider going abroad but only have Sat -Tuesday. Happy to consider blowing the budget for a treat to myself!

I'd probably go to something like a yoga weekend so it's easy to go alone and meet people. Do you do yoga?

I saw one a while ago- I think in Devon. I'll see if I can find it for you.

My first lone adventure was 5 nights - I flew to Venice, 2 nights there, train to Florence, again 2 nights, then train to Pisa, 1 night. While in Florence I did a day trip to Sienna on an escorted bus trip with English-speaking guide. Flights were easyjet/ryanair to keep it cheap; hotels were decent-looking ones on superbreak. You could consider just the Florence/Pisa part as then you cut out the morning on a train from Venice. Pisa is only 1 hour from Florence on the train, so you could even be based there. I did lots of walking, museums, walking, eating gelato etc.
