Long drive to ski resort any tips

We are driving to Val Cenis in France, roughly ten hours from Calais.

Has anyone done this journey or any tips for long journey with 3yr old?. We are thinking of buying a portable dvd to help DH pass the time. We will break the journey and stay overnight in IBIS or similiar.

We drove from Scotland to the Dordogne area with a 3yo. We spread it over three days and it was fine. Dd had a personal stereo and the usual entertainments. We stopped for a snack, maybe taking a stroll round a town etc when she got antsy. She really enjoyed looking out and seeing something new. Hth.
